English Language Arts (ELA)
The assessment encourages students to think beyond simple memorization. Students must interpret information, connect ideas, identify relationships, draw conclusions, and use textual evidence to support their understanding. The questions are designed to evaluate reading accuracy, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and the ability to understand information presented in different contexts.
What's included
- Reading Comprehension – Literary and Informational Texts: The assessment includes two carefully selected reading passages: one literary story and one informational text. Students will develop their ability to understand the main idea, identify key details, recognize the sequence of events, make logical inferences, and understand the author's purpose. Questions also evaluate students' ability to analyze characters, identify lessons, and support their answers with evidence from the passages.
- Vocabulary Development and Language Skills: Students will strengthen their English language skills through questions covering vocabulary, synonyms, adverbs, verb forms, conjunctions, and punctuation. These activities assess their understanding of word meanings, sentence structure, grammar rules, and correct language usage. Students will also practice selecting appropriate words and identifying grammatically correct sentences.
- Critical Thinking and Analytical Skills: The assessment encourages students to think beyond simple memorization. Students must interpret information, connect ideas, identify relationships, draw conclusions, and use textual evidence to support their understanding. The questions are designed to evaluate reading accuracy, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and the ability to understand information presented in different contexts.
- Written Responses and Extended Writing: Students will complete short-response and extended-response activities that require them to communicate their ideas in complete, meaningful sentences. They will answer questions using supporting details from the reading passages, explain important information, and compare ideas across two different texts.
